Payment Terms

All Cold Spring Farm services are to be paid in advance to ensure continued quality service. Please make checks payable to Cold Spring Farm. Payment is due no later than the 7th for the current month. A $25 late fee is charged on the 8th of the month unless previous arrangements have been made directly with Ellen. A two week notice is appreciated if you decide to terminate our services for any reason.

Sales Transactions

Hunter/Jumper equine sales transactions benefit greatly when in consult with your trainer. For all clients at Cold Spring Farm participating in The Training Program, the purchase or sale of a horse requires a 15% sales commission payable to Cold Spring Farm. The commission is based on the total purchase price of the horse and it is due at the time of sales transaction. In the event a horse is bought and sold within the barn, both clients split a single 15% sales commission.

Safety is a first concern at Cold Spring Farm. Required equipment includes an approved riding helmet with proper fit. Loaner helmets are available if you are in your first two months of riding. Hair is neatly set inside the helmet and a hairnet is encouraged. For the younger set with long hair, braids are fine. Breeches or long riding pants are to be worn with riding boots, paddock boots/half-chaps or full chaps. An appropriate riding shirt is expected covering the midriff and remaining secure during activity (i.e. polo shirt or button down shirt with collar). Show your barn spirit with Cold Spring Farm logo attire for you and your horse.

Horsemanship Lessons

Cold Spring Farm offers Horsemanship Lessons when unsatisfactory conditions for mounted lessons exist. Topics vary and include horse show preparedness, basic equine first aid, nutrition, riding tack & bits, courses and striding, etc.

Make-up Lessons

When a lesson is missed, a Make-up Lesson may be scheduled at Ellen's discretion. All lessons are to be completed within a month; therefore, no Make-up Lessons will be carried forward into the next calendar month. Riders are strongly encouraged to schedule a Horsemanship Lesson with Ellen instead of a Make-up Lesson.
